Suzanne Klassen
Over the last many years I have produced and participated in a wide range of experimental performance, sound, radio and installation pieces.
I am re-orienting from a few years of mostly 2-D work toward more technologically based pieces that often attempt to bring some sort of revival or resuscitation through interaction, movement or sound. The pieces themselves often fail at least partially in their attempts, but as humans we tend to fill in those blanks, and so we can complete the pieces for ourselves through memory or imagination.
Like a lot of people, I’m feeling the weight of the world these days, helpless in the face of madness. I can’t always piece it together on my own. In my “other” life, I’ve worked a long time in social justice and community engagement, and I’m feeling, at 62, that perhaps its time for further synthesis of those elements.
So, I’m also working on a project to encourage community exploration and collaboration through (mostly lo-fi) sound and technologies. 604Special.org will provide a virtual way to connect, collaborate and showcase the results.
